It’s easy in everyday life to get bogged down by the daily chores of living and work. It’s easy to let day by day go by without blinking or reflection. (As a side note, this is one reason I have always enjoyed looking at and doing art. Art in all forms can break through our consciousness to help transform thought, look at things in new ways and awaken our minds.) Sometimes it’s hard to see the big picture or focus on long term goals. Unless we constantly remind ourselves.
Last Spring, my wonderful husband (fiancee) at the time, dropped by my work and gave me some reminders. He gave me several of these little plastic children toy models of various cows. (At the time, I had been focusing on learning how to draw a cow.) I have one in my office on a window sill above my computer. Now several times a day, while at my day-job, I see that cow and am reminded of my goals. It’s important to have constant reminders in your life. It can make the routine, just a little less routine.
