This is a great book for young boys with the innate affinity for trucks and machines. The story is simple with just a couple text lines per spread. The illustrations are highly detailed in a pixar-like realism. The scenes are shot from dramatic angles, heightening the WOW factor. A boy like my 5 year old nephew could read this again and again just to get lost in the pictures.
The book opens up with the spine on the top. When I first opened it, I almost felt like a foreman, on the job with my clip board and legal pad. The format is a little distracting and would be hard to share with another person, but I think the long canvases helped in creating the dramatic angles and eventually you forgot all about it.
There is so much beautiful detail. What a fun world for a little boy.
These illustrations definitely make this book a winner and the angles create so much more excitement. Something to remember.
