I spent last week in San Diego. My husband had a business convention and I was lucky enough to tag along. I brought my sketchbook and paints along with me. I had all intentions of using the time away to get some work done. That didn’t exactly happen. But I had a wonderful time and thanks to San Diego’s public transit, I was able to scoot myself all around the city. The week was fabulous. I laid by the pool and got a tan. I strolled along Mission and Pacific beach. I had a lot of great Mexican Food and got serenaded by a Mariachi band. I felt like I was in an old Western movie walking through Old Town. I walked through Balboa Park and visited the Art Museum. San Diego is a rich, vibrant city, and the sun isn’t bad either. A week was not nearly long enough to see everything. I can’t wait to go back.
But now I am home. While I was gone, I received some notes on my manuscript I had sent out for peer review (I don’t know if you can call it peer review, because they’re professionals and I’m not). Their feedback was incredible and I am very thankful. Whenever I run something by my husband, he thinks it’s amazing. While I greatly appreciate his support, it was great to get some feedback from people who know what they’re doing. Coupled with my time away, I feel refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to get to work. I’m still in the editing process but I am starting to color in my illustrations. It’s so fun finally starting to see it come together!
